The Fair Gets Involved is the social strand of the Lleida Puppet Fair, a project that for the past 13 years has worked hand in hand with organisations and associations across the region to bring culture closer to everyone.
Through actions such as collaborations with the Food Bank and the Blood Bank, free performances for inmates at Lleida Penitentiary Centre and their families, and many other initiatives, the Fair demonstrates its commitment to a more inclusive and supportive society.
All this is possible thanks to the generosity and involvement of many people and organisations who believe that culture can transform and connect.
In this edition, the Puppet Fair will carry out 6 actions.
COLLABORATION WITH THE FOOD BANK
Free admission to a performance in exchange for a bag of food.
The Fair makes tickets available to the Food Bank for two performances, with the aim of organising a solidarity collection.
Free access to two performances programmed by the Puppet Fair in the square of the Pati Convent de Sta. Clara. Visitors must bring a bag of food (cooked pulses, tinned fish, oil, milk, follow-on milk, infant cereals, etc.).
Two stickers will be given per bag. Seating is limited.
BLOOD BANK
The Fair offers a 15% discount on tickets to anyone who donates blood.
This discount can be redeemed at the Centre de Titelles office for one ticket to one of the Fair’s ticketed performances. It will not be applied directly at the venue box offices. Promotion valid while stocks last.
CATALAN SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETATION
Thanks to the collaboration of the association Deixa’ns signar, the Fair’s official events are interpreted into Catalan Sign Language, as is the performance Bufairons by Centre de Titelles de Lleida.
In addition, around 60 performances are offered without words, making the Fair more accessible to everyone.
APROPA CULTURA
For the third year running, the Fira de Titelles reaffirms its commitment to Apropa Cultura, an initiative created in 2006 with the aim of improving the lives of people in vulnerable situations through culture.
The Fair offers special-price tickets to the groups that are part of the programme: people deprived of liberty, women in vulnerable situations, people with mental health challenges, people with visual or hearing impairments, people with physical disabilities, people with intellectual disabilities and autism, migrants and refugees, older people and people with Alzheimer’s, homeless people, children and young people, people with addictions, and people with chronic illnesses.
RESIDENTIAL CARE HOME LA TEVA LLAR
The Fair programmes a puppet performance at the Residential Care Home La Teva Llar so that its users can enjoy a show free of charge.
PONENT PENITENTIARY CENTRE
For the sixth year, the Fair programmes a puppet performance in the prison so that inmates and their families can enjoy a show free of charge.
