This year, the Lleida Puppet Fair joyfully joins the activities scheduled to celebrate the Ricard Vinyes Year.
One of the scheduled shows will be by the Danish company Alexander Theater with the performance Alex Barti, a string puppet pianist that was part of the Fair 20 years ago. On the occasion of this celebration, we believe it is the perfect time to enjoy this magical proposal once again, where the protagonist tries to perform his concert but is constantly interrupted by the puppeteer.
The magic of this wordless family performance lies in the perfect symbiosis between the puppet and the manipulator, an interaction that makes the audience cross the line between reality and fiction.

PUPPETS, A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE BY JESÚS ATIENZA
In 1973, the Institute of Theatre launched the Primavera de Títeres (Spring of Puppets) in the Park Güell in Barcelona, the seed of a festival that—under changing names and formats—has nurtured the history of puppetry and its dramatic and expressive possibilities in Catalonia. In this photographic exhibition, featuring twenty-nine snapshots taken between 1986 and 2006, the expert in puppets and puppeteers, Jesús Atienza, presents a retrospective selection showcasing some of the warmest and most emotional memories of a festival that is both international and locally rooted.
Jesús Atienza has lived with puppets and puppeteers since 1977, when, in search of Harry V. Tozer's puppets, he stumbled upon Pepe Otal's puppets. From that moment, he traveled with the puppeteers in their vans, eating and sleeping with them and their puppets, across Catalonia, Spain, and much of Europe.
In 1978, he co-founded, with his mentor Albert Guspi's team, the International Photography Center of Barcelona (CIFB). There, alongside the best photographers in the world, he learned how to photograph the world. They chose social photography, not artistic photography. Within the social realm, Atienza focused on topics related to life and death: the circus, tattoos, flesh, and puppets.

An itinerant show in which an impressive Andean condor moves through the city, while its song resonates in the air. A song that is in danger, due to the threat of extinction facing this species and many others.
The contrast between its physical majesty and the fragility of its materials shows us how the vastness of nature depends on a delicate ecosystemic balance.
